The Daiichi Sankyo Group proactively promotes environmental communication with its stakeholders to prevent and resolve environmental issues by sharing information and fostering common understanding through dialogue. As part of these activities, we make every effort to periodically share information, exchange ideas with local residents around its production plants and R&D centers and conduct disaster prevention countermeasures in collaboration with them.

Panelist at CDP 2021 Climate Change and Forest Reporting Conference
Hiroyuki Okuzawa, CFO participated as a panelist in a panel discussion at the “CDP 2021 Climate Change and Forest Reporting Conference” hosted by CDP* in April 2022. Under the theme of “the Role of CFOs in Disclosing Sustainability Information and Enhancing Corporate Value with Sustainability in Mind,” the participants discussed corporate strategies for addressing sustainability issues to enhance corporate value and the role of CFOs in sustainability information disclosure.
Daiichi Sankyo also received a top "A List" designation in the 2021 Climate Change category for second consecutive years.

Participation in external seminars, etc.
Through a presentation at a seminar at the 8th INTERPHEX Week Osaka in March 2022, we introduced the creation of environmental value from renewable energy, including the introduction of a solar photovoltaics power generation facility at the Group’s Onahama Plant, which is one of its initiatives to achieve 100% renewable energy.

In March 2022, we participated in a webinar hosted by Bureau Veritas, under the theme of “Understanding and Managing Occupational Safety and Health, and Environmental Risks as a Response to the SDGs,” where we introduced the Group’s EHS management and risk reduction initiatives and exchanged opinions online.

In March 2021, we held the 25th Daiichi Sankyo Seminar for institutional investors and securities analysts.
The theme of the seminar was “Daiichi Sankyo Group’s Environmental Management Initiatives.” It consisted of presentations explaining matters such as the circumstances surrounding environmental management, environmental management initiatives, and the level of achievement of the previous 5-Year Business Plan targets, followed by a Q&A session.

Exchange of Opinions with WWF Japan
As a company that is ranked No. 1 among pharmaceutical companies in Japan in June 2018 in effective efforts to address climate and energy issues evaluated by WWF* Japan, we met with WWF Japan in July 2018 to discuss global warming countermeasures in the pharmaceutical industry.
Discussions were held on a broad range of themes including previous global warming countermeasures, the medium to long-term approach to global warming countermeasures, the use of renewable energy, and the state of global warming countermeasures in the pharmaceutical industry.

Environment-Related Commendations
Four Group companies in Japan that are subject to the SABC Evaluation System (a system to categorize business operators in accordance with their energy efficiency progress) under the Energy Conservation Act of Japan successfully achieved the voluntary target of an average reduction of 1% or more over the period of five years and were given the “S” rank as a company with excellent energy conservation. Going forward, we will continue to implement energy-saving measures with the goal of maintaining our rank.
