Daiichi Sankyo Group provides much-needed assistance in response to various natural disasters and pandemics or emergencies that occur around the world.

Reconstruction Support Following the Great East Japan Earthquake

Daiichi Sankyo Group supports the ideals of the Coastal Forest Restoration Project, a long-term, post-Great East Japan Earthquake reconstruction support program led by the Organization for Industrial, Spiritual, and Cultural Advancement (OISCA) in Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture. The Group has been supporting this initiative since 2012. Since FY2013, employee volunteers have been participating in tree-raising activities. This project aims to restore coastal forests lost due to tsunami by raising some 500,000 Japanese black pine seedlings until 2020, and continuing silviculture activities over an area of 100 hectares until 2033.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, employees were unable to participate in volunteer activities in FY2020 and FY2021, but in FY2022 volunteer activities resumed, and 38 employees participated.
So far, a total of 236 employee volunteers have participated in this project.
To encourage the continued healthy growth of the Japanese black pine, a steady stream of long-term work which requires many helping hands will be necessary. This includes weed removal, side-ditch excavation, and thinning. The Daiichi Sankyo Group will continue to provide support by encouraging employee volunteers to help with the work in addition to providing financial support.
